The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has an exciting opportunity for a talented project manager/transportation professional to join our organization as the Project Coordinator. This position will assist with the implementation of the MPO’s Complete Streets and Localized Initiatives Program (CSLIP) and other multimodal transportation infrastructure. This position serves as the liaison between the MPO and our transportation partners at FDOT, FHWA and local governments to ensure effective continuing coordination and communication on project design and implementation issues in a deadline-driven environment. This position reports to Deputy Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a mid-level transportation professional with a passion for multimodal transportation, experience and interest in the design and/or implementation of bicycle, pedestrian, safe routes to school, transit priority, and infrastructure with an emphasis on multimodal transportation, and a desire to grow their career with a progressive goal oriented organization. They have strong technical knowledge, interest in working in a fast paced environment, often as part of a team, looking for an opportunity to learn new skills, and desire to be part of an organization focused on expanding transportation options for the public. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, Architecture, or related field plus four (4) years of progressive experience in construction, engineering, or related work. A Master’s Degree with at least two years’ experience is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job should apply. Professional Engineer license preferred, but not required.
