Michigan State University is seeking a seasoned, independent-working, motivated advancement professional to plan, implement, and continually enhance a comprehensive university advancement parent and family program. The purpose of this program is to grow the number of parents and families giving to MSU and increase the depth of that giving. This focuses on engaging Spartan parents and families with the university and with each other; to strengthen the MSU relationship with parents and families; and to encourage their philanthropic support.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business or any other related field; three - five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in professional fundraising; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
An advanced degree preferred; fundraising experience at an institution of higher learning; demonstrated excellent writing and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to speak in public and small group environment; collaborative and team oriented work style; strong work ethic; experience with “Moves Management” or related strategic relationship development techniques and practices; ability to “close” current and future gifts and/or business deals; current giving, charitable and general tax law; travel involving automobile, airlines and rail; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some nights and weekends.
