TECTONIC is currently seeking qualified Soil Compaction Inspectors/Engineers to work on projects throughout the NYC metro area.
The essential duties and responsibilities in this position include:
Traveling to various field project sites;
Collecting samples of materials as needed;
Utilizing field testing equipment to determine compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards; more specifically, utilizing a Troxler gauge to perform soils tests based upon soils reports;
Reviewing approved plans, specifications, and submittals for inspection requirements;
Compliance with inspection requirements in accordance with the applicable code, approved plans, and specifications;
Processing daily field reports and inspection reports and following procedures for notification of discrepancies; and
Communicating with project managers, colleagues, and contractors as required.
Inspectors must possess a HS Diploma/equivalent and possess and maintain one or more of the certifications listed below:
NICET II Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt / Concrete / Soils) Certification
Engineer in Training Certification
Ability to complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety & Health and Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification Class & Hands On Training within a reasonable period of time;
Effective oral and written communication skills;
Must be detail oriented;
Requires a valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and transport testing equipment to various project sites primarily throughout the New York City metro area, as regular daily travel is required.
