The City has approximately $8 million budgeted for capital improvements in FY 17/18. The City Engineer reports directly to the Director of Public Works & Engineering, who has oversight of all personnel in the department. The City Engineer does not have personnel responsibilities, in order to focus on the delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is internally motivated to accomplish and have a proven track record of delivering projects successfully. Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field and at least three years of related experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure maintenance, construction, and operation of a public utility system is preferred. In addition, an advanced knowledge of AutoCAD is highly desired. Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is required.
