As a member of the Web Development and Operations team within University Marketing, the Back-End Web Developer plays a key role in the development and operation of all public and internally facing Marketing products including: websites, applications, integrations, and underpinning technologies.
A vital team member focused on scalable and high-quality solutions, this position is responsible for the back-end development, delivery, and maintenance of digital products within a fast-moving marketing environment. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and problem solver with demonstrable knowledge and expertise programming web sites and applications within open-source environments (LAMP preferred); understands and has experience implementing and extending CMS applications (Drupal, etc.); is well-versed and is able to work across a variety of projects of varying complexity and code structures; can effectively consult and partner with colleagues, including front-end developers, designers, project managers, strategists and writers; is highly organized and is able to deliver great code based upon business and systems requirements; has an eye for detail and a willingness to dissect and proactively solve diverse programming challenges while utilizing commonly accepted best-practices and complying with institutional policies; demonstrates strong communication skills, both oral and written, especially in communication with non-technical colleagues; exhibits the behaviors associated with the Office of Advancement's core competencies: Leadership, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Communication/Interpersonal Effectiveness.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; three years of professional web application development experience; experience delivering, maintaining and documenting projects built with object-oriented PHP and/or MVC frameworks; two years of experience coding responsive HTML5 and CSS3; professional work experience using SQL databases: professional experience with querying, relational data, database schemas; professional experience creating and consuming data via web services and APIs.
Target Salary: $63,700.00 - $74,500.00 Annually
