Please note: do not use Google Chrome or IE Version II THE Job The Project Manager plans, develops, and executes the tasks and activities of assigned Public Works capital improvement projects. Most projects result in the construction of public works infrastructure including transportation/road improvements, bridges, traffic signals / roundabouts, storm water collection/treatment, pedestrian/bicycle facilities, park improvements, utilities infrastructure, facilities improvements, and environmental enhancement projects. The Project Manager will lead professional and technical project staff from the inception through completion of assigned projects. Responsibilities:
This position is represented and requires membership in Local 17, Professional and Technical Employees. Membership dues will be deducted from employee pay. Project positions are not eligible for Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Flexible Spending Accounts *All Clark County employees must participate in the WASHINGTON STATE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM (PERS). Employee contributions begin the first day of work. Current contribution rates are 5% to 7.38% of gross pay, depending on plan choice. QUALIFICATIONS Both levels (CPM II and CPM III) require a combination of education, experience, and training that will demonstrate the ability to perform the work. All combinations of education, experience, and training that demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered. CPM II Level: Bachelor's degree in project management, civil engineering or a related field; and two (2) years of responsible project management or closely related experience. --OR— Five (5) years of responsible project management experience or closely related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work described above. CPM III Level: Bachelor's degree in project management, civil engineering or a related field; and five (5) years of responsible project management or closely related experience. --OR-- Seven (7) years of responsible project management experience or closely related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work described above. --AND-- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in civil engineering, or a closely related field. Applicants may be hired at either the CPM II or III level, based on their qualifications. Those hired at the II level may be eligible for promotion to III level after gaining the required knowledge, experience, and qualifications. Knowledge of: principles and practices of civil engineering and administration of public works projects; organizational and management practices as applied to the development of projects; and sources of information regarding project management; project estimating; planning, scheduling, monitoring, and problem solving; application and interpretation of County regulatory codes, state and federal regulatory and requirements, departmental policies and procedures, work standards and codes applicable to the job. Ability to: coordinate professional and technical staff with a team emphasis; analyze problems with consideration of consequences of proposed actions; identify alternatives and recommend solutions; implement recommendations in support of goals; supervise the preparation and distribution of project documents and reports; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of County and other government officials, community groups, and the general public. |
