The Department of Civil Engineering, in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of AssistantProfessor in the area of Engineering Project Management in Energy Sector. The preferred start date of the appointment is July 1, 2018 or as negotiated.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in Engineering Project Management as well as fundamental and advanced courses in Civil Engineering. The main criteria for selection are research and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-reviewed academic publications and securing of external research funding, active engagement with industry, and supervision of graduate students. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate a strong academic background and research expertise in Engineering Project Management in Energy Sector, and an ability to work as part of our highly-collaborative research teams. Specialization and expertise are required in one or more of the following areas:
Major Energy-related Projects
Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)
Supply Chain Management
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Assistant Professors will dedicate their time to teaching our undergraduate and graduate programs, continue to engage in high impact research, submit scholarly works to high quality publications, and provide service with the university and within our profession.
Candidates must hold a B.Sc. in Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering or a closely related discipline; a strong research track record; a demonstrated ability in teaching excellence or evidence of excellence in teaching at a university level. Relevant industrial experience is an asset. Complementing the current faculty, the incumbent is expected to participate in joint projects, and develop a strong independent research program. Working as a team and providing service to your Department, Faculty and University are required. Candidates should have strong oral and written English communication skills.
Candidates must be a registered professional engineer or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Information about becoming a professional engineer can be found online.
