Job Summary: This position is in the Center for Quantitative Sciences within the Department of Biostatistics. The person in this role will act as member of a development team to create and modify software, design, code and perform benchmark testing for projects in clinical and translational biomedical research, as well as basic biomedical research.
Expected responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
â¢Develops or modifies software applications. â¢Performs testing and debugging â¢Ensures appropriate documentation for all development and modification. â¢Ensures integrity and security of institutional data. â¢Participates in the preparation of analysis reports using appropriate methods and techniques. â¢Communicate findings effectively â¢Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelorâs degree in software engineering, software development or computer science. Graduates of developer-training boot camps accepted with appropriate portfolio.
Preferred experience and skills: â¢Must be able to work independently, given a specification and appropriate documentation, to complete complex programming objectives. â¢Must be capable of understanding complex data management issues as well as application testing methodology. â¢Must be able to understand basic application structure and be comfortable modifying existing programs. â¢Apply knowledge to create robust test suites to ensure the accuracy, safety, and security of the applications being produced. â¢Must be familiar and comfortable working in Ruby on Rails or the MEAN software stack. â¢Familiarity with Git or other version control system a plus. â¢Ability to multi-task.
