This position reports to the Manager of Medical Academic Operations in the Boonshoft School of Medicine, Business Office-BSOM. The main role of this position is to maintain mission critical, highly-integrated, database-driven software used to enhance medical student education and evaluation which will meet the unique needs of the medical school that is not supported centrally. This position is key to maintaining accreditation compliance.

Essential Functions and percent of time::
Responsible for researching, planning, developing, implementing, testing and supporting mission critical software. Solutions are web-based or mobile applications. Meet with stakeholders to gather software requirements. Evaluate existing solution options. Create functional designs based on requirements. Thoroughly test new applications to ensure successful software deployment. Existing systems primarily use PHP/MySQL. – 55%
Participate in efforts to develop and maintain reports and dashboards required to monitor student academic success, prove accreditation compliance and satisfy other needs of the school. Assist school’s Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) CQI Working Group with data as needed. – 25%
Server administration: As part of the software development activity a portion of time is needed to configure, maintain, monitor and manipulate server software and settings. Backup and restore system/table/document data before updating to new versions of custom-built systems and maintenance of a development environment for production purposes. Ensure software version compatibility. Collaborate with University units when utilizing their solutions. – 10%
Provide database and web programming assistance to other units of the school and University as needed. – 5%
One major responsibility of the MedOPS department is assessments for medical students. This position will be required to assist with exam administration and other duties as assigned. – 5%
