Michigan State University Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations Eli Broad College of Business
The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic, results-oriented individual to join its highly successful fundraising team as the Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations. The Assistant Director will be an integral member of a team that will focus 75% of their time and attention on more than 10,000 prospects whose philanthropic capacity is $99,000 or less. In addition, 25% of their time will be focused on strategic alumni engagement activities including engaging current board members in regional activities, building and advancing relationships in key geographic regions where a large number of MSU alumni and friends reside and increasing alumni engagement opportunities and improving the connection our alumni have with the Broad College.
Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Director of Development, the Assistant Director will manage a portfolio of 100-150 special donor prospects. In their gift work, the Assistant Director will employ an aggressive, strategic moves management program, averaging 12-15 face- to-face strategic visits per month and 2 to 4 solicitations per month. The Assistant Director will dedicate a significant amount of time to prospects in Michigan and the Great Lake States. In addition to these duties the Assistant Director will manage and coordinate engagement efforts for the Broad College in key regional areas and with key constituencies.
Required: Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by completing a four-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and/or Business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional fund raising, public relations, marketing, higher education fund raising or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired: A Bachelor's degree; three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in professional fundraising, public relations, marketing or related field; working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of a valid vehicle operator's license; excellent writing and verbal communication skills; experience in public speaking; collaborative team-oriented style; working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving; travel involving automobile, airline and rail.
