The Academic Technology group supports teaching, learning, and research across schools and units at Harvard. Reporting to the Associate Director of Tools & Development, the Software Engineer will work as part of an Agile team to build, maintain, and support software and services that are critical to the pedagogical mission of the University.

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role.
Bachelor degree with 3 years demonstrated software engineering experience.
Familiarity with design patterns, algorithms and data structures, and the ability to apply them effectively.
Experience building web-delivered applications using one or more of Python/Django, Ruby on Rails, Angular and/or similar platforms.
Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
Demonstrated ability in testing and quality assurance, including experience with appropriate unit testing suites.
The following are desired but not required:
Flexibility with regards to development platform and a demonstrated ability to adapt to new development languages and libraries.
Ability work in a team.
Experience working with an Agile development methodology.
Experience in requirement capture and direct client engagement.
Experience using an LMS or MOOC platform as a student, instructor or teaching assistant would be a plus.
