Usher Transport, a bulk petroleum and chemical transportation provider based in Louisville, KY is seeking to fill a management position as an Area Manager within the company's rail services division. The role of the DTL Area Manager is to manage all operational & safety functions in the Rail Services Division.
The following are principal duties of the DTL Area Manager. They include but are not limited to the following:
Conducting safety meetings at all sites in a scheduled manner.
Conduct follow up to insure audit results are complied with.
Conduct safety audits of drivers and all equipment at all sites on both scheduled and unscheduled basis.
Assist in training employees on new equipment insuring sites are in compliance w/ all Usher, Railroad, DOT and OSHA safety regulation
Contributing to the weekly division Newsletter.
Ordering safety equipment and supplies.
Assisting site supervisors in insuring their sites are compliant with all applicable regulations.
Assist Director in creating annual department budget.
Maintaining archival and administrative files.
Act as a safety resource to all site supervisors to insure their sites are compliant with regulations.
Use professional business judgment and be prepared to define plans, justify actions
Adhere to a proper business work ethic and create a similar expectation of your reports/peers
Other duties that may be assigned by your supervisor.

The DTL Area Manager reports to the Director of Rail Services
The following positions report directly to the DTL Area Manager: Any additional office staff and others as may be assigned.
Possess a Class A CDL with Tanker & Hazmat endorsements
Minimum 2 yrs Tank experience
Must be able to lift a minimum 35LBS to shoulder height
Possess TWIC Card
Prefer prior DTL or similar refueling experience
Must be able to complete 40Hrs Hazmat Emergency Responder course
Must be able to complete training program for DTL Refueler
Ability to travel 60-80% of time depending on location
Exceptional communication skills, presentation, negotiation and management skills, strong business work ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor required
Advanced MS Office & Word Pro skills
Must demonstrate competence in management
Proven people skills with effective experience working with staff and ownership
Work under the guidelines and directives of the Director for all campaigns
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
The following will be used to evaluate the performance of the DTL Area Mgr.
Timeliness and Accuracy of weekly safety audits and equipment inspections at supervised sites.
On time performance, work ethic and quality of Team and Personal Development Plans
Provides accurate forecasts, updates and requested reports to Director
Ability to lead by example and manage/mentor direct reports and peers
Management Objectives may be assigned to further measure and reward top performance
Meet or exceed budget forecasts for supervised sites in all disciplines i.e. financial, safety, human resources.
