The Academic Health Center - Information Systems at the University of Minnesota seeks an individual to perform work related to application development using Ruby on Rails and ColdFusion, systems analysis, and data analysis.
Application Development (50%) :
Work with clients to understand and define technology needs, recommend and develop solutions, and plan for implementation and integration of solutions into the current business processes or systems design.
Collect and define client business requirements, gather information on the technology plan of the department/unit, and perform analysis on business processes to identify improvements.
Develop and support applications through programming, analysis, installation, integration, and maintenance.
Develop code from specifications and enhance/customize existing or purchased programs through data exchange for University programs using appropriate design/development tools.
Database Analysis and Integration (50%) :
Analyze databases and develop methods of integrating disparate databases for application development, reporting and data analysis purposes.
Utilize web services and other methods offered by third-party vendors to access data that will facilitate the integration of applications and longitudinal reporting and analysis.
Develop scripts to streamline access to data on a scheduled basis.
Create compelling visual and reporting dashboards that facilitate the mission of our customers by answering day-to-do operational questions as well as strategic insight.

BA/BS degree required.Two years of work experience in the areas of application/web/systemsdevelopment with a related BA/BS degree. Four years of work experience in the areas of application/web/systems development with a non-related BA/BS degree.
Minimum 2+ years of work experience in the following areas:
Ruby on Rails application development
Relational database with strong SQL knowledge
Minimum 1+ years of work experience in the following:
Development operations toolchain (Git, Jenkins, and/or Jira)
Experience in higher education.
Proven ability to meet deadlines using effective organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks and manage projects, and work with minimal supervision.
Experience developing innovative and creative database driven, web-based applications. Experience working with databases in Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server.
Experience converting databases into Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server.
Experience analyzing and integrating data sources for reporting and analysis purposes. Experience scripting in Python or similar language to automate tasks and data exchange. Experience with Tableau software for data analysis and visualization.
