Supervision of contractors: Supervise contractor for landscaping, snow removal, drainage, waste removal, window washing, pest control, and garage maintenance, including maintaining the comprehensive scope of work documents/service level agreements and assisting with bidding RFP's. Responsible for quality control, field monitoring, inspections, and maintaining contractor service levels, work directly with contractor account managers to achieve contract compliance. Set, implement and routinely measure key performance indicators Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for grounds, landscaping, and snow removal program execution. Obtain periodic quotes, assemble paperwork for purchase orders, plan and monitor work execution, and review invoices. Ensure contractor compliance with Harvard University Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability, and Environmental Public Health programs.
Maintenance program development: Develop strategic maintenance and renewal programs for grass, beds, shrubs, trees, hardscapes, exterior furniture, garages, irrigation systems, catch basins, selected manholes, exterior fence, railings and stairs with the objective of going 75% organic and complying with Harvard University Green Standards by 2020. Establish and implement annual maintenance schedules for landscaping, snow removal, drainage, waste removal, window washing, pest control, and garage maintenance.
Grounds maintenance: Perform daily, documented inspections of exterior grounds. Immediately address issues that pose a risk to safety or the environment. Ensure appearance standards are maintained, trash and litter are removed, and grounds are clean. Coordinate events on exterior grounds, working with event managers & Facilities, Campus Operations, Security, Parking, Conference Center and vendors to ensure successful event planning, execution, and restoration. Develop specifications and scope of work for required services such as tree trimming projects, hardscape repairs, and irrigation upgrades. Execute work as directed. Conduct monthly grounds coordination meetings. Coordinate the annual set-up and maintenance with MASCO Placemaking On-Campus Supervisor Assess the health of trees, shrubs, and turf on a regular basis and document the results.
Campus Planning and Facilities organization support: Participate in long-range landscape planning. Participate in the development and administration of budgets for assigned areas. Participate in coordination meetings with the Projects Management team. Performs related duties as assigned. Maintain state of the art knowledge. Provide written reports for meeting documentation, periodic assessments and performance issues. Maintain strong customer relationships with members of the community. This position reports to the Associate Director of Facilities and is considered essential personnel expected on campus during snow closures or other position-related emergencies during nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Associates Degree, or relevant industry certifications. 5 years of experience in grounds/landscaping maintenance. Knowledge of IPM techniques. 2 years of experience in contract administration. Microsoft Office, ability to edit and manipulate PDFs. Must be able to perform the duties of the position, including but not limited to; walking to inspect the campus even in inclement weather and in non-ADA accessible locations, ability to stand for long periods of time, the ability to climb ladders, and work at a computer for extended periods.
Strong oral and written communications. Spanish language skills an advantage. Technical training and/or professional certifications in landscaping, horticulture, arboriculture, and irrigation.
