Centrally located between the Villages and Orlando, the City of Leesburg, Florida announces the job opening of Deputy Director. The deputy director is a highly visible position within the city organization, and overseeing all aspects of Public Works in close coordination with the department director. Duties include direct supervision of more than 100 employees, managing operations and public projects, preparing budgets, developing department policies and procedures, long-range organizational planning, managing utility enterprise funds and evaluating, documenting and reporting activities to city administration and elected officials.
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Public Administration or closely related field. An advanced degree in engineering or public administration is highly desirable. Ten years or more of functional experience in a progressive public works or utility environment. Five (5) years or more of management experience in a progressive public works or utility environment. Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer is highly desirable, but not required. Requires a valid State of Florida driver license (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
