To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and be able to read, comprehend instructions, and perform basic arithmetic. The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license. This position requires the ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. The incumbent must also be willing to learn and follow safe, efficient work and equipment operating practices and procedures.
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, pivoting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds up to shoulder height; occasional kneeling, crawling, turning valves, and pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. The incumbent operates equipment such as a high-pressure steam washer, conveyor systems, stackers, crushers, and uses miscellaneous hand tools. The incumbent is frequently required to perform all types of manual labor tasks which includes, but not limited to, shoveling, sweeping, picking rocks, bagging dust products, cleaning dust, greases, and oil. Finger dexterity, good color vision and hearing, as well as the ability to speak, comprehend, and remember assignments are required. The incumbent may be required to work under pressure to meet deadlines. The incumbent works in areas of dirt/dust; frequently in conditions of noise, limited ventilation, and around electrical and rotating equipment; and occasionally works around chemicals, fumes, extreme heat/cold, and vibration; and works near augers, elevators, and rail car equipment. The incumbent also occasionally is required to work in confined areas and at heights up to 100 feet. Safety personal protective equipment (PPE) required includes hardhat, steel-toed work boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection. The incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle. This position may need to be respirator qualified.
