Position Description: The Lead Aerospace Engineer directs the design, development, testing, and integration of scientific instrumentation for multiple space missions, in conformance with NASA practices for flight hardware. Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the work of technical engineering and support team engaged in design, construction, and testing of space flight systems. Responsible for delivering instruments on schedule and in conformance with cost guidelines.
Represents the UCLA magnetometry group at meetings with extramural funding agency authorities concerning engineering design considerations and deliverables, at professional conferences, and in collaborations with other space partners. Collaborates with UCLA scientists to develop proposals for new space missions and their instrumentation, and is responsible for designing new technology for present and future mission opportunities.
