The City of Pittsburg seeks a CIVIL ENGINEER I/II for the Engineering Division in the Community Development Department.
The Civil Engineer I performs tasks and duties assigned within the Civil Engineering series such as engineering design, construction, development or traffic system. Civil Engineer I's assist resident engineers on large public works construction projects and may serve as a resident engineer on smaller sized projects. Excellent oral and writing skills to communicate to internal and external parties

About the Engineering Division The Engineering Division of the Community Development Department ensures City owned facilities such as streets, storm drain systems, water distribution networks, sewer collection facilities and improvements are constructed where needed and improvements meet appropriate standards. Staff also designs and constructs City projects, assures development projects meet City requirements, manage traffic related issues and improvements like signals, process and issue permits for encroachments within the public property, site grading, parking permits and wide loads permits, and maintains all necessary records.

License for both Levels: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance is required.
Education (Qualifying Path I) for Civil Engineer I:Qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Education and Certification (Qualifying Path II) for Civil Engineer I:Possess upper division coursework in Civil Engineering and possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate.
Experience and Education for Civil Engineer II: Possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field and two years of civil engineering experience. A Master's degree in civil engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
