The Engineering Department (https://www.uvu.edu/engineering) at Utah Valley University invites applications for a Tenure Track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, in the areas of: 1) Materials (Composites), Manufacturing, or Design and 2) Thermal/Fluid Sciences. to begin January or August 2020. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, and will be expected to teach undergraduate mechanical engineering courses.
The Engineering Department currently offers Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, and Civil Engineering undergraduate degrees. The Mechanical Engineering program atUVUwas established two years ago to help fill the growing demand for professionally trained engineers in the Orem/Provo greater metropolitan area, commonly referred to as the Silicon Slopes and regularly listed as one of the healthiest cities in the United States.UVUis a public university that offers a number of highly competitive benefits, while being located next to some of the best outdoor activity areas and national parks.
A successful candidate will teach students to understand and appreciate mechanical engineering topics, while fostering a commitment to lifelong learning. Faculty are expected to assess teaching results and apply results to improve courses, curriculum, and teaching effectiveness.
The selected candidate will support department, university and the community through service such as committees and special projects, while fully supporting the university and program level accreditation efforts. All faculty are required to engage in scholarly activities, including research and keeping current in the latest developments in the field.

B.S. and PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related areas with emphasis in 1) Materials (Composites), Manufacturing, or Design, or 2) Thermal/Fluid Sciences. PhD must be completed by the day classes begin.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Minimum of 3 three years of teaching with demonstrable experience in the areas listed above.
