Ensure Marlin products meet internal and external standards before shipment. Provide overall administration and maintenance of the quality system, including the quality manual and supporting procedures, the internal audit function, and the Company’s ISO registration. Ensure quality issues with suppliers and customers are moving toward resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Conduct monthly Quality Management Team (QMT) meetings on effectiveness of QMS system, gaps in processes, and recommendations for improvement.
Conduct monthly briefing with President on key quality issues with customers and suppliers and any recommendations for additional action.
Supervise Quality Inspector to coordinate daily priorities and direct quality data collection and analysis, including incoming inspection.
Champion the cross functional team during Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) in the development of Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC and Measurement System methodologies and documentation. Focus must include optimizing the part and/or process to reduce cost, eliminate waste, and minimize opportunities for defects.
Manage the process for communicating Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements to our suppliers as well as final PPAP submittals to the customer for new and revised product.
Participate in the review and analysis of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics and participate in the initiation of engineered solutions to address reject PPM both external and internal.
Maintain and engage calibration system to ensure reliability.
Maintain records and provide historical data to various groups within the company to enhance product design, quality systems, and manufacturing processes to improve product safety and overall customer satisfaction with company products and services
Compile and evaluate quality data monthly and provide feedback to employees to reduce manufacturing errors.
Manage and maintain the integrity of the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Administer the internal audit function of the Company to ensure our systems meet ISO requirements and that actual practice conforms to documented Company procedures
Create and update procedures of various types with input from affected functions; promote conformity with established systems and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements and general operational efficiency
Administer all levels of quality system documentation including the quality manual, Company policies and procedures, and applicable departmental procedures
Work closely with sustaining and new product development engineering teams to develop PFMEA, Inspection, Test, and control plans for new and existing products for both in-house operations and purchased components
Use metrology equipment such as micrometers, calipers, surface plates, height gauges, and other advanced measuring techniques in the assessment of part/process quality
Administer corrective and preventive action program and ensure actions taken are effective
Communicate and work with vendors to resolve quality concerns as they arise
Maintain quality awareness program and training for the factory and office personnel
Maintain Rohs/REACH records by part number as needed
Education and/or Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field, from a four-year college or university plus a minimum of three years progressively responsible related experience; or ten years progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and experience manufacturing electronics preferred. Ability to interpret prints, specifications, and test methods. Requires the ability to operate a computer, a variety of small hand tools and precision measuring devices, and standard office machines. Experience with electronics manufacturing preferred.
