The Senior Quality Engineer collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on supplier quality with new and existing products. The primary goals of this position are to verify and build quality into supplier processes so incoming material meets Gorilla Glue specifications, and to also create plans for ongoing verification of material quality. This position requires regular travel to the suppliers’ manufacturing facilities to support product development, conduct audits and to troubleshoot product or process problems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage relationships with new and existing vendors in respect to vendor quality systems.
Visit / audit suppliers to observe for minimum quality requirements and communicate to suppliers on necessary process changes.
Audit supplier processes on critical changes such as line qualifications, new raw material suppliers, design trials, production trials, etc. to observe for risks that could affect quality / security of material supply.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on supplier Quality Agreements, that can include specifications, process agreements, quality checks in production processes, etc.
Develop Quality Control Plans that entail receiving inspection sampling plans, bi-weekly or monthly product audits, and quarterly aging testing.
Reviews supplier corrective actions on non-conformances.
Collaborate with other departments such as Research & Development, Package Development, Marketing, and New Product Integration on supplier risks, specifications, qualification plans, etc.
Participate in product claim development with other departments and tailor quality plans as necessary according to claims.
Make risk-based decisions on material disposition and collaborates with others as necessary.
Construct reports on supplier Quality Metrics.
Collaborate with others on customer complaint monitoring and adapting Quality Plans as needed in response to complaint trends.
Demonstrates strong process orientation and able to conduct process improvements.

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
20-40% travel required, typically in continental United States with possible rare circumstances in the rest of North America, Europe, or Asia.
7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in manufacturing environment, 5+ years of which required in engineering or similar role.
Strong statistical skills.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
Excellent interpersonal skills with working as part of a team and with communicating to a diverse work force.
Experience conducting audits.
Able to conduct thorough investigations beyond surface level observations / communication.
Ability to interpret technical specifications / read blueprints.
Ability to be self-motivated and to effectively work independently; as part of a team and with all levels of an organization.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent problem solving; and written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office.
Experience / certifications in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing preferred.
ASQ CQE preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and or move up to 30 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Material may weigh up to 50 lbs in rare circumstances. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the other staff.
