Perform design tasks for related to roadway discipline from conceptual design to final design compliant with the project contract documents.
Develop innovative alternative designs in order to optimize construction budget.
Create analytical two and three-dimensional earthwork models of optimizations and base designs on highly complex projects.
Estimate quantities at multiple stages of design.
Supervise and if needed aid in the production of roadway, signaling, pavement marking and traffic control plans.
Make revisions to plans based on redlined mark-ups.
Accountable for handling all other roadway design aspects in order to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort.
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical data.
Serves as technical liaison with client and sub consultant at staff level for work within the roadway discipline.
Develop revision to specifications if so needed for items related to roadway discipline.
Identify design non conformities and develop recommendations for corrective action.
Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance.
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering required
Master Degree in Civil Engineering , while not required, a benefit to role
P.E. license or ability to attain license within a short timeframe.
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate
Practical roadway design experience
A strong technical design background in highway design and transportation engineering
Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, AutoCAD, Civil3D, OpenRoads) is required
Strong written and oral communication skills, is positive
A “self-starter” attitude with a desire to grow personally as well as professionally
