The Lead Rail Signal Designer will produce preliminary and final designs for a wide variety of clients and signal system technologies. Our client base includes commuter rail (heavy rail) mass transit (subway, elevated and other fixed urban guideway systems) and light rail. We also provide services to signal equipment suppliers for large signal projects. Our signal designers develop drawings and plans, technical specification, technical reports, construction cost estimates and project schedules in accordance with our customers’ needs. Work will also entail the oversight of commissioning and testing during the implementation phase of a project. Knowledge of wayside, vehicle and central control signal systems is required.

Typical duties and Responsibilities ;
Leads the development of project design concepts and criteria and researches large or complex project elements
Has responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating large or complex engineering assignments
Oversight of complex technical project teams integrated with multiple disciplines of over 25 people
Provides QA/QC reviews
Supervises a staff of Engineers or Technicians
Participates in development of Transit & Rail BL strategy
Participates in capture management from a viewpoint of technical expertise
Responsible to oversee complex tasks for multiple concurrent projects and sets priorities for completion of multiple assignments
Responsible to provide direction for multiple disciplines on a project
Responsible for staffing of multiple assignments and providing key input for the completion of multiple projects.
Participates to provide technical support for meetings with public and agencies
BS in Engineering or equivalent experience
Professional Engineer (PE) License and ability to obtain multiple jurisdictions or equivalent responsible experience
15+ years of applicable experience
10 years with Transit Projects
Design review during construction
Experience in testing/cutover/construction phasing
Experience in multi-disciplinary programs
Knowledge/experience on operating transit property
Knowledgeable of relevant design and calculation software
Knowledge of Expertise with applying Design Manuals and Guidelines
Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Experience with supervision of staff
Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead client presentations for technical issues
National recognition for Transportation experience or expertise
Knowledge of multiple disciplines such as track, signals, power, communications, facilities.
Experience coordinating with other disciplines such as roadway, bridge, Geotech, and civil/site
