The Part-Time Technical Director is responsible for the overall operation, technical aspects, and logistics for the theatre and gallery in the Frank Guaracini, Jr. Fine and Performing Arts Center.
Examples of Duties:
Responsible for assessment, preparation, and execution for all technical needs association with rehearsals, performances, and events.
Provides and/or oversees technical services for theatre events including lighting, sound, staging, AV, and computer technology.
Works closely with internal and external customers and must be able to meet production schedules, including being present at and conducting production meetings, technical rehearsals, and strikes.
Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates all theatre staff.
Evaluates operations and procedures with theatre users to assess services and operation.
Provides onsite theatre supervision for fulfillment of event requirements for theatre users.
Maintains and monitors the condition of equipment; confers with Conference & Events Operations Director on the repair and replacement of equipment, and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Coordinates the logistics of new equipment purchases or repairs.
Responsible for the maintenance and inventorying of the stage, support space; including theatre, dressing rooms, lobby, shop facilities, and sound and light tools and equipment.
Develops and documents policies and procedures. Ensures the safety and cleanliness of related equipment and space.
Assists with Conference Center events and activities, as needed.
Flexible schedule required. Must have day, evening, and weekend availability to meet production schedule.
Contributes to the overall success of the Luciano Theatre by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater or related field preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Audio systems including the operation of all House Audio equipment and working knowledge of Industry standard rental and touring equipment.
Advanced knowledge of Lighting systems including the operation of all House lighting equipment and working knowledge of Industry standard rental and touring equipment.
Knowledge of Rigging systems and their safe operation including House Fly Rail system and working knowledge of Industry standard rental and touring equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and adapt equipment/operations if necessary.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand/kneel for long periods of time.
Ability to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, which may include evenings and possible weekends.
