We are seeking an organized and dedicated person who wants to become part of our engaging and professional Engineering Team. The Transportation Engineer is responsible for the short and long-range planning related to the transportation network, management of the City's traffic control devices, expansion of the active transportation system, and partnering in the delivery of public transit.
Typical duties of this position include:
Providing overall management and direction to the Transportation Section.
Being responsible for the development and implementation of the Transportation Master Plan.
Being responsible for the management of traffic control devices within the City that are necessary to meet transportation objectives.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
University degree in Engineering with a specialization in the field of traffic/transportation engineering.
Professional member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geo-Scientists of British Columbia.
A minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible management experience in a municipal transportation environment, either as an employee or as a consultant to local government.
Experience working with computer applications including Windows and other transportation specific applications.
Sound organizational, oral and written communication skills and public relations tact.
