Responsibilities include:

• Planning and design work for transit projects associated with BRT, local bus, express bus, on-demand services, and other ancillary facilities. The employee will act as a technical expert on these projects, from planning through construction. Additional assignments may include planning and design for other multimodal capital projects.
• Managing medium to larger size complex capital improvement projects while working with a multi-discipline planning and design team including staff from other divisions within DOT and across other departments.
• Managing consultant contractors, including managing scope, schedule, and budget as well as reviewing technical submittals.
• Assisting with and participating in public outreach activities as well as engaging with other stakeholders including the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the Montgomery County Planning Department, The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, independent municipalities (Cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg, among others), and State agencies like the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and State Highway Administration (SHA) within the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). Familiarity with Federal funding and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance is desired.

The successful candidate will have experience in the technical aspects of a large-scale transportation project including: traffic signal systems, transit technologies, traffic modeling, ridership forecasting, transit operations, station design and access, civil infrastructure, and permitting.
