The City of Rancho Cordova is looking for an energetic and results driven transportation engineer. The successful candidate will manage Transportation Planning and Engineering within the Department of Public Works. Through strong communication skills and innovative forward thinking, the successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team that implements innovative ideas today and plans for the future of Rancho Cordova. 

The Senior Civil Engineer - Transportation

  • Coordinates on a local, regional and national level to establish Rancho Cordova as a leader in transportation.
  • Performs complicated transportation planning and engineering of public works projects including multi-modal transportation networks, transit, and smart city technologies.
  • Is integral to development in Rancho Cordova by reviewing environmental documents, assessing impacts, and conditioning subdivision projects.
  • Leads engineering planning studies, prepares grant applications and performs other engineering/planning work and public works projects.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  Position requires possession of a current valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California, a current valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City. 

EDUCATION:  Equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related discipline.
 
EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of Three (3) years of experience comparable to that of an Associate Civil Engineer at the City of Rancho Cordova including some supervisory experience. A Masters Degree in civil engineering may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.   

Experience in Transportation engineering and/or Transportation planning is highly desired.
