The Elevator Mechanic utilizes the technical skills required to repair, replace, maintain and inspect elevators and associated components.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: A. Reviews and interprets electrical circuit diagrams required for the maintenance and safe operation of elevators. B. Trouble shoots, repairs and maintains the various types of automatic elevators, including drum, hydraulic, single and double traction machines. C. Maintains and services associated operating equipment such as controllers, selectors, generators, cab and hatch doors, and safety equipment and controls. D. Re-ropes all types of elevators. Replaces tapes as required and inspects and maintains shaft guide rails. E. Performs inspections and makes repairs on equipment or systems as required by Verizon Practices and/or local ordinances. F. Works at unusual heights from the top of the elevator cab and in hoist way, when necessary. G. Moves and/or lifts weight up to 100 pounds. H. Travels from one building location to another by public transportation or Company vehicle. I. Evacuates people from elevator when required. J. May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
A. Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy. B. Normal Medical Department authorization for this job except if previously taken and is still considered valid. C. Previous experience in elevator troubleshooting, maintenance and repair. D. Satisfactory performance rating in the above. E. Previous experience or schooling in electrical and/or mechanical field. F. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. Driver's training is provided by the Company. G. Ability to drive vehicles with standard transmission may be required in some locations. H. Satisfactory performance rating in present job. I. Satisfactory attendance/punctuality record in present job. J. Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business. Associates may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as the needs of the business necessitate.
Work Tour Hours include a rotating shift, with the hours of 7AM-4PM and 4PM-12AM. Overtime is as needed by the business.
