The Facilities Operations department is seeking a full-time Maintainer - Building Maintenance.
Responsibilities will include:
Light construction work including the repair and installation of flooring (including stairs), doors, repair of sheet rock and plaster walls/ceilings, removal and installation of ceiling tiles, repair of windows and installation of Plexiglass, cabinets, installation of light shelving and assembly of office furniture as required.
Works with all adhesive and joining materials to seal open areas in building walls, floors and ceilings.
Installation of picture frames and bulletin boards.
Exterior work including repair of sidewalks and steps (including concrete and stone pavers), patches concrete floors, walls and ceilings, light repair of brick and/or stone faade work.
Has knowledge and can perform brick, stone, cinder block and concrete repairs and/or installations.
Installs and repairs flooring including ceramic tile, VCT, cork, wood and laminate floors.
Light touch-up painting of walls, ceilings and floors as required.
Performs minor roof repairs and patching including maintenance of roof drains and gutters on accessible roofs.
Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal products and equipment such as drip pans and drain pipes, hand railings, guards, gates, bike racks and floor grates.
Repairs toilets, faucets and performs drain repairs as required.
Assists Metal Mason, Carpenter, Painter and Maintainers (plumbing outside of wall) as required.
Can assist HVAC staff and perform fireguard watch for all hot work when required.
The expected salary for the Maintainer - Building Maintenance is $62,933.57/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
Required Qualifications:
FDNY Certifications required or to get within 6 months: G-60, F-60, S-12 and S-13.
Ability to bend and crawl in tight places. Excellent finger dexterity.
Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and high manual dexterity sufficient enough for duties listed above.
Must work well with others and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Technical trade school or vocational education.
