This person installs, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of heating, cooling and ventilating equipment involving work of a diverse nature with minimum supervision. Must have a good knowledge of building temperature control systems and experience in preventative maintenance procedures.

Shift Information: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Sat/Sun off)

Key Responsibilities:
â¢Â Â   Install, maintain and repair a variety of refrigeration equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, steam absorption units, air compressors, fan coil units, fan units, pumps, cooling towers and related piping.
â¢Â Â   Install and maintain pneumatic and electric control systems associated with HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
â¢Â Â   Work from piping diagrams, schematics, blueprints and sketches to plan, lay out and troubleshoot HVAC systems.
â¢Â Â   Keep records, write reports and determine materials to be used and quantities needed.
â¢Â Â   Utilize a variety of tools and instruments associated with the trade.
â¢Â Â   Must observe safety regulations and be familiar with OSHA and EPA requirements.
â¢Â Â   Must clean work area and maintain tools and equipment.
â¢Â Â   Must be experienced in brazing and silver soldering.
â¢Â Â   May direct and train lower-rated helpers.
 

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
â¢Â Â   Must possess a valid driverâ™s license and drive assigned University vehicle. Must possess a valid Massachusetts State Refrigeration License with at least four years
â¢Â Â   Universal type license
â¢Â Â   Must be a high school or trade school graduate with additional courses in refrigeration and air conditioning installation and repair.
â¢Â Â   Minimum of 2 years documented work experience maintaining and installing HVAC systems
â¢Â Â   Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing equipment in order to assist those trades in making minor repairs and adjustments

Must be physically able to perform all of the essential duties of the position as set forth in this Position Description, including but not limited to the following:
â¢Â Â   Must work on ladders, scaffolds and in pits.
â¢Â Â   Read, write, understand and carry out oral and written instructions in English.
â¢Â Â   Establish and maintain a positive cooperative working relationship with supervisors, fellow workers, department heads and other members of the campus community. Ability to work in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and time deadlines.
â¢Â Â   Ability to manually lift up to 60 pounds. Heavier material or equipment is lifted using other methods.
