Summary: Waring School seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative teacher of Visual Art who is looking to thrive in a small, relational learning community. We are seeking an educator to teach visual art to students in middle school through high school. Courses include traditional observational drawing, basics of 2D/3D design, and an upper level course of the candidate’s choosing - traditional darkroom photography preferred, but area of applicant’s expertise welcome.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, has their own studio practice, and is looking to share their love of making and looking at art with our students and community. As Waring faculty, this teacher’s role may also involve other aspects of the student experience such as acting as an academic advisor (called a ‘Tutor’), Athletics, co-curricular activities, Experiential Learning (through our Endterm and Camping Trip programs), or other, depending on interest and abilities, that would add to the overall full-time equivalency.
The successful candidate is a lifelong learner looking to thrive in a small learning community. Our classes are small, teachers are called by their first name, and we encourage collaboration and discussion.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate adolescent learners and to work well with colleagues
Familiarity with learning management systems, such as Google classroom, preferred
Participation in annual all-school events such as Program Night, Graduation, Convocation
Participation in Experiential Learning aspects of our program, including Camping Trip and Endterm, as agreed upon based on FTE work percentage
Attendance at co-curricular aspects of our school program, e.g. All-School Meetings, as agreed upon based on FTE work percentage
Participation in Faculty Meetings and Professional Days, as agreed upon based on FTE work percentage
