The Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) is a national 501(c) nonprofit organization that works with communities to provide clean water and healthy natural resources. For nearly 30 years, the organization has provided direct technical services and training to communities, conducted applied research, and developed a growing membership program.
CWP is seeking to fill the position of the Stormwater & Watershed Training Specialist. The ideal candidate for this position is a detail-oriented and critical thinker with the ability to execute individual trainings and high-level program management. The candidate will have an intermediate understanding of technical watershed and stormwater management concepts to support training delivery and programmatic understanding. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills are a must, along with top-notch written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. This position requires multi-tasking and adaptively managing training projects/programs with highly variable audiences, clients, topics, and priorities.
The Training Specialist would be involved in the ANSI-accredited Clean Water Certificate Training Program and other professional training services provided by CWP. The Clean Water Certificate Training Program is an ANSI-accredited certificate program under ASTM E2659-18, which sets precise yet wide-ranging requirements for how the certificate program is administered and managed. The ideal candidate will be eager to contribute to these requirements related to documentation management, tracking and reporting, training implementation, and systematic program evaluation.

Stormwater & Watershed Training Specialist
Three years of experience performing training/education services, program administration/evaluation, and/or other related services in the watershed/stormwater industry
Minimum bachelor’s degree in an environmental field including education, natural resources management, planning, etc.
Ability to work in remotely and for an extensive time at a desk using computers and other equipment; ability to access internet, preferably high speed
Experience using remote communication platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ideally also with experience using graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe InDesign
The following list are expected preliminary duties for this position
Develop and execute training program logistics
Develop, document, maintain, and continuously improve a standard system of work documents, SOPs, and training aids
Coordinate with partners and potential clients
Coordinate schedule with third-party trainers and partners
Work with team to maintain ANSI certification and continuously improve the preparation process for annual surveillance
Deliver training courses
Suggest and implement ideas to continuously improve and grow the training program
Develop and track measures of success for the program in concert with the Training team
Issue certificates and maintain records of certificate issuance
Collect and review feedback from trainers, participants, partners, other involved parties
Process trainer applications and provide materials for trainers and partners
Evaluate trainer performance and provide direct feedback
Lead, teach, and onboard new trainers
Manage production of program marketing material with Marketing team
Research and create new training methods, including e-learning
Produce new training material (curriculum, handouts, power points, activities, etc.) for a variety of courses related to stormwater and watershed management

The position is expected to primarily work at home with occasional travel to CWP’s main office in Fulton, Maryland and to training locations.
