This position provides cleaning, maintenance, and facility support services for the Wellness Center to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The General Maintenance Worker (GMW) supports daily operations of a high-use recreational facility that includes fitness, wellness, and activity spaces. Salary Range
$20.51-$25.43 hourly.
$42,825-$53,098 annually.
Responsibilities
??Responsibility #1: Clean and maintain Wellness Center interior spaces so that occupants are in a well-maintained environment.
?Clean and maintain lobby, lounge areas, hallways, stairways, walking track, professional staff offices, meeting room, gymnasium courts, studio spaces, rock wall area, and cardio and strength training areas.
?Sweep, vacuum, dust, mop, scrub, burnish, and shampoo surfaces as needed.
?Clean windows, window sills, and blinds.
?Empty trash and recycling receptacles and clean containers as needed. ?
?Clean walls, vents, railings, and high-touch surfaces as required.
?Return furniture and equipment to designated locations.
?Remove trash from grounds immediately surrounding the building exterior.
?Perform other duties required to maintain a clean and safe environment.
??Responsibility #2: Clean and disinfect restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and drinking fountains to maintain sanitary and hygienic conditions.
?Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, urinals, showers, mirrors, countertops, and partitions.
?Mop and disinfect floors, handles, doorknobs, lockers, benches, and hand dryers.
?Maintain two locker rooms and two single stall restrooms.
?Clean and maintain drinking fountains and bottle fillers.
?Replace consumables including paper products, soap, and hygiene supplies.
?Empty and replace trash and sanitary liners.
?Clean walls and vents as needed.
??Responsibility #3: Monitor building & equipment conditions and perform minor maintenance tasks to ensure safety and functionality of the Wellness Center and its equipment.
?Monitor equipment, fixtures, and general building conditions.
?Conduct routine preventative maintenance checks on equipment.
?Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance to equipment and facility features.
?Replace burned out light bulbs and report lighting issues.
?Identify and report safety and/or security concerns, maintenance needs, and facility issues to supervisors.
??Responsibility #4: Perform restorative and deep-cleaning tasks to maintain long-term facility condition.
?Shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture.
?Scrub, strip, wax, and burnish hard surface floors.
?Clean doors, door hardware, light fixtures, vents, and high surfaces.
?Wash and polish furniture, glass, and windows.
?Complete special projects as assigned by supervisor.
??Responsibility #5: Support exterior maintenance and winter operations related to the Wellness Center.
?Shovel and deice entrances, walkways, and immediate exterior areas.
?Monitor exterior conditions for safety hazards.
?Record snow and ice removal activities as required.
??Responsibility #6: Perform administrative, safety, and operational support duties to ensure effective department operations.
?Check email and work instructions daily.
?Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.
?Read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
?Follow safety, environmental, and OSHA regulations.
?Understand how job functions support department and institutional goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
Ability to:
Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
Follow simple oral and written instructions.
Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
Keep simple records.
Additional:
Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, shoveling snow, working on ladders, and repetitive movements
Preferred Qualifications
??Experience working in a recreation, fitness, or wellness facility.
?Ability to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets.
?Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs.
?General computer skills.
Other Requirements
Incumbent must be able to perform repetitive bending and/or twisting, reaching overhead, lift up to 50 pounds, kneel frequently, sweep and mop and work in enclosed areas, be able to work on ladders/scaffolding. Incumbent must be in good physical health and endurance.
